Mommy and Me: Is an exciting and stimulating introduction to music and movement for toddlers
from walking age to 2 years. This program is designed to enhance motor skills, music appreciation
and creativity, through the use of visual props like parachutes, hula hoops, scarves, wands and
bean bags. It is structured so that the mother and child learn, participate and experience the magic
together.
Tots: Is an introduction to ballet, tap, jazz and acro for 3 year olds . In this program, dancers will
learn basic steps and vocabulary while exploring movement concepts. This class incorporates
visual stimulation and creative movement games to help the dancers learn while having fun!
Combo: This class is for dancers age 4-6. Combo class gives the opportunity to try a variety of
styles in tap, ballet, jazz and acro. The magic of motion is introduced to these dancers in a fun and
interactive environment.
Ballet: The students will master proper placement, turnout and technique, while learning and
understanding ballet history and vocabulary. The ballet classes are taught in a structured
environment and help students attain healthy work ethics, discipline and self-esteem. Our Ballet
Director will evaluate dancers who are interested in Pointe and will assist them through this
transition.
Jazz: Beginning through Advance Level classes concentrate on proper technique, flexibility, and
style. Dancers will master multiple-turn rotations, a variety of leaps and jumps and dance “tricks”
while learning about different jazz forms and exploring the art of dance. The jazz class will
incorporate center-floor work, progressions, and combinations which will increase the dancer's
memory for choreography and movement patterns. Ballet is required for Level 2 and above jazz
dancers.
Modern: Encourages dancers to use their emotions and moods to design their own steps and
routines. Modern dance uses their body weight to enhance movement. Contractions, planks, and
hinges are a few terms they will learn.
Contemporary: Students learn to use their bodies in a variety of ways, and they focus on
breathing, posture, and emotional state to establish a mind-body connection. Students may learn
choreographed works, or they may be encouraged to improvise dance pieces.
Lyrical: Is a modern dance form which fuses modern dance, jazz, and ballet. It requires excellent
technique to perform, as the moves are often difficult and precise. Moreover, the dancer should be
aware of his or her facial expressions while dancing.
Tap: While concentrating on different rhythm variations, the dancer is introduced to multiple styles
of tap from "soft shoe" to "funky rhythm". A wide range of skills will be covered, including counter
rhythms, rhythmic timing, intricate tap patterns, tap vocabulary, choreography and tap improvisation.
AIM's tap program is the best tap program in the Colorado Springs Area.
Hip Hop: Is available to students ages 7 through Adult, specializing in Teens beginning through
advanced levels. These fun and exciting classes will teach a variety of hip-hop styles which will let
each dancer experience the groove, find their own style and learn how to dance like the real pop
stars!
Pop 'N' Lock: A style of break dancing which involves short, rapid movement of the arms and
legs (popping), combined with brief pauses between movements. Sometimes accompanied with
subtle foot movements known as 'gliding' in which the breaker appears to move around the floor
without using/lifting their legs.
Break: A form of dancing that involves rapid acrobatic moves in which different parts of the body
touch the ground; normally performed to the rhythm of rap music
Krump: A positive outlet for anger, a way of spiritual dancing and praise,a popular and fast
growing style of hip-hop dance. It originated in the African-American community of South Central
Los Angeles, California. It is free, expressive, and highly energetic, and is the newest form of the
"Urban" Black dance movement.
Acro: Is a style of dance that combines classical dance technique with precision acrobatic
elements. It is defined by its athletic character, its unique choreography, which seamlessly blends
dance and acrobatics, and its use of acrobatics in a dance context. Dancer will learn handstand,
backhand springs, ariels and more during class.
Yoga: Is about creating balance in the body through developing both strength and flexibility. This is
done through the performance of poses or postures, each of which has specific physical benefits.
The poses can be done quickly in succession, or more slowly to increase stamina and perfect the
alignment of the pose. The poses are a constant, but the approach to them varies depending on
the tradition in which the teacher has trained.
Zumba: is a fusion of body sculpting movements with easy to follow dance steps to the tune of
Latin and International music. The routine features aerobic/fitness interval training with a
combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. Zumba utilizes the principles of
fitness interval training and resistance training to maximize caloric output, fat burning and total body
toning.
LEVELS: 1-Beginning; 2-Beg-Intermediate; 3-Intermediate; 4-Advance
